Fractured Rock Stabilizing
Sat Dec 1st 12 pm - 3 pm|
|Cost:||$10 (includes facility donation)|
|Registration:||Contact Jim Kraai|
Mr. Jim Kraai will be sharing his knowledge on stabilizing lapidary materials. Only 8 seats available. Please let him know soon as the slots will go fast.
We'll be demonstrating stabilizing lapidary materials. Stones that have cracks should be stabilized before before being put into a rock saw. Slabs and cabs-in-progress can develop cracks that would ordinarily have made them worthless.
I'll demonstrate the following methods using either Opticon 224 or Epoxy 330
- heat in a slow cooker
- heat and an inexpensive vacuum pump and chamber
People should bring materials that they have questions about, but I will only be demonstrating on materials that I bring to the presentation
