Associations & Memberships

American Federation of Mineralogical Societies

The purpose of the AFMS is to promote popular interest and education in the various Earth Sciences, and in particular the subjects of Geology, Mineralogy, Paleontology, Lapidary and other related subjects.   They sponsor and provide means of coordinating the work and efforts of all persons and groups interested therein.   They also sponsor and encourage the formation and international development of Societies and Regional Federations and strive toward greater international good will and fellowship.

Mid West Federation

The Midwest Federation Of Mineralogical and Geological Societies is a member of the American Federation of Mineralogical Societies.c  It was organized in 1940, and is one of the original four founders of the AFMS in 1947.   It encompasses a region of 11 states and has over 100 different clubs.   A list of their officers, committees, and bylaws can be found on their website.
